UPDATE: 25/10/12 – NORTH MELBOURNE is now confident of reaching a deal for Melbourne midfielder Jordan Gysberts, who may be used in a swap for Cameron Pedersen.

The Demons were banking on the Brisbane Lions giving them a second round draft pick for Stefan Martin but the Lions will only pass a third round selection. That deal is likely to happen today.

Gysberts now appears to be the main that may finally orchestrate the move for Pedersen to become a Demon.

COLLINGWOOD’S Tom Young is set to be traded to the Western Bulldogs for a late draft pick.

NORTH Melbourne’s Aaron Edwards appears bound for Richmond for either a late draft selection or just prior to the national draft as a free agent.

UPDATE: 24/10/12 – DELISTED Essendon player Henry Slattery says he wants to play with PORT ADELAIDE next season but the Power have yet to show interest.

Slattery will play in the SANFL next season if he doesn’t get offered an AFL lifeline.

The Power yesterday gave up on thoughts of luring Freo defender Greg Broughton.

THE football careers of Essendon midfielders Kyle Reimers, Brent Prismall and Ricky Dyson remain in balance with the Bombers yet to offer new contracts.

UPDATE: 23/10/12 – HAWTHORN has been linked with delisted Port Adelaide star David Rodan, who may join the Hawks in the national draft if he isn’t taken beforehand.

It is said that Richmond, his former club, is also keen on Rodan.

The Hawks are keen on adding another established star to the mix as they contend for another flag.

ST KILDA is reportedly interested in Carlton ruckman Robbie Warnock as it searches for a back-up ruckman to Ben McEvoy.

Now seemingly out of the race for Gold Coast ruckman Tom Hickey, with talks between the Suns and Saints going cold, the Saints are now poised to offer Warnock a new home.

Warnock arrived at Carlton with huge expectations but has failed to deliver since coming from Fremantle.

MELBOURNE’S Stefan Martin will fly to Brisbane today to meet the Lions as a trade now looks destined between the two parties.

The Demons, NORTH MELBOURNE and PORT ADELAIDE are all negotiating trades for Cameron Pedersen to head to Melbourne and Ben Jacobs to head to North.

UPDATE: 22/10/12 – RICHMOND has inquired about Geelong ruckman Trent West and may well make a play for him before the end of the week.

The Tigers are looking to add an experienced ruckman as a back-up to Ivan Maric to its list after Angus Graham was traded to Adelaide last week.

The Cats are understood to be entertaining the idea and may well shed at least two of their ruck stocks after the arrival of Hamish McIntosh from North Melbourne.

Orren Stephenson and Dawson Simpson are in the firing line but one of them may stay of West departs.

PORT ADELAIDE is looking to snare Fremantle’s Greg Broughton today. St Kilda has also shown some interest in Broughton.

WEST COAST has informed St Kilda that defender Mitch Brown is off limits and the Saints have now shied away from the idea of snaring him. It is now thought to be interested in Hawthorn premiership defender Stephen Gilham.

UPDATE: 21/10/12 - MELBOURNE is looking for a second round draft pick to appease NORTH MELBOURNE  for versatile forward Cameron Pedersen.

The Dees received a compensation pick of just selection 49 for the loss of Jared Rivers and it may not be enough to satisfy the Roos.

The Roos are also looking to pass on the pick they do receive for Pedersen onto PORT ADELAIDE for second year midfielder Ben Jacobs.

The WESTERN BULLDOGS are offering pick 51 for West Coast midfielder Koby Stevens, who has cited the Bulldogs as his preferred destination.

However, the Eagles will be wanting their pick 44 instead.

UPDATE: 19/10/12 -  RICHMOND ruckman Angus Graham is set to become an Adelaide player on a two year contract. The deal is likely to happen today.

MELBOURNE’S Stefan Martin is being head-hunted by a number of clubs including the BRISBANE LIONS.

The Lions are looking for a key tall to help as a back-up in the ruck and up forward. They lost in battles for Kurt Tippett and Chris Dawes and Martin seems to be their latest option.

NORTH MELBOURNE will snare Port Adelaide midfielder Ben Jacobs this week perhaps in a straight swap for forward Matt Campbell and a second round draft pick.

MELBOURNE is expected to snare Cameron Pedersen from North Melbourne for its hoped-for second round compensation draft pick that it expects to earn for the Jared Rivers trade to Geelong.

RICHMOND is likely to welcome back midfielder David Rodan, who was delisted from Port Adelaide.

AND in the final moves of free agency today, Kurt Tippett is expected to become a Swan and Hawthorn’s Clinton Young is expected to become a Pie in a shock move on the final day.

UPDATE: 18/10/12 – SYDNEY’S Jesse White is expected to be involved in the trade for Adelaide star Kurt Tippett along with the Swans first selection in this year’s draft.

White, who had struggled for senior opportunities last season, was firstly not wanted by the Crows when the Swans had offered him for the trade. But now with the Swans budging on other potential trades – including Malceski – the Crows may have no choice but to accept the forward and back-up ruckman.

HAWTHORN’S Clinton Young is expected to announce by tomorrow that he is staying at Hawthorn, as predicted earlier by Football Nation. Collingwood has pulled out of the race knowing that his heart lies at the Hawks.

WEST Coast’s Koby Stevens is expected to announce his destination of choice today, after Port Adelaide midfielder Ben Jacobs announced he wanted to head to NORTH MELBOURNE.

FREMANTLE defender Dylan Roberton’s career is at risk now that Collingwood has pulled out of the race for him. The homesick defender wants out but has had little interest in him so far.

The WESTERN BULLDOGS now appear to be Essendon’s Scott Gumbleton’s best bet of a trade given MELBOURNE pulled out of the race for him yesterday. The Dees will be satisfied once Cameron Pedersen join Chris Dawes at the club.

UPDATE: 17/10/12 – THE Chris Dawes move to Melbourne may open the floodgates on a few other trades this week with the Pies now paying more attention to a trade for Hawk Clinton Young.

Geelong is expected to deal for both Hamish McIntosh and Jared Rivers after seeking a trade for one of its own – Mitch Brown – to help clear a spot on its list.

UPDATE: 16/10/12 – HAWTHORN defender Stephen Gilham may join former team-mate Tom Murphy at the Gold Coast Suns in the latest move of trade period.

It would mean that Gilham and Murphy would be moved on by the Hawks following the arrival of Brian Lake to defence during the trade period.

GREATER Western Sydney is expected to go shopping for experienced talent with its early draft picks including picks two and three up for grabs.

Kurt Tippett is one name on the radar for GWS who is looking to prise the Adelaide star away from Sydney.

HAWTHORN may look to entice North Melbourne forward Matt Campbell away after Campbell and the Roos decided to split today. The Hawks appear to be in prime position to snare Campbell, whom they held interest in this time last year.

NORTH Melbourne forward Lachie Hansen is set to re-sign at the Roos despite fielding offers from several clubs.

UPDATE: 15/10/12 - NORTH Melbourne wants Port Adelaide midfielder Ben Jacobs and will begin to offer Port a trade for him. Jacobs has yet to decide of his club of choice with at least four clubs chasing him.

FARREN Ray’s manager Marty Pask says that Ray will likely stay a Saint despite him being linked with Melbourne.

AFTER missing out on Chris Dawes, the Western Bulldogs have looked to Essendon forward Scott Gumbleton to sove its problems up forward and are likely to make a play for him today.

DELISTED Port Adelaide midfielder David Rodan may end up at his former club Richmond in either the national or pre-season draft.
Rodan said that the Tigers were one of five clubs chasing his services next year.

UPDATE: 14/10/12 - HAWTHORN midfielder Clinton Young is believed to be set to remain at the Hawks despite interest from at least four clubs headlined by Collingwood and Port Adelaide.

Those close to Young said yesterday that they would be “shocked” if he turned his back on the Hawks – after they showed tremendous faith in him during the times he faced enormous time on the sidelines through injury.

The Hawks have upped Young’s contact by 15 per cent in order to persuade Young to stay. He wants to remain in Victoria, with Collingwood being his only other realistic suitor.

As a free agent, Young has until Friday to make up his mind.

MELBOURNE has offered pick 20 to Collingwood for Chris Dawes and hopes that will satisfy it. A deal is likely to be completed early in the week.

ST KILDA is still looking for a trade for young Gold Coast ruckman Tom Hickey, but both Essendon and North Melbourne have also shown interest.

The Saints are also hopeful a deal for West Coast defender Mitch Brown will be reached, although his manager Liam Pickering believes West Coast say it’s not going to happen.

SYDNEY remain confident a deal for Adelaide’s Kurt Tippett can also be reached with a break-through believed to have come on Friday between the two parties. The Swans had only offered up fringe players such as Jesse White and Matt Spangher but it is now believed that premiership defender Nick Malceski may be shopped around if the Crows were interested. Adelaide wants a proven premiership player in return and not just a second round draft pick for Tippett.

UPDATE: 12/10/12 – AS revealed by Football Nation, Melbourne is set to land North Melbourne’s mature age recruit Cameron Pedersen for a second round draft pick. That move is likely to happen later today or over the weekend.

AND Chris Dawes has requested a trade to Melbourne in a late update. The Dees are set to use pick 20 on him and perhaps a trade of other draft picks.

THE BRISBANE LIONS have shown some late interest in Magpie Chris Dawes but they admit they are coming from a long way behind to snare him.

Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs were front-runners with the Dees having pick 20 and the Bulldogs with pick 21 to work into a potential trade.

GEELONG’S Mitch Brown has been linked to a trade with Fremantle. Brown has been a star in Geelong’s VFL team this season. The Cats are no longer interested in Melbourne’s Jordan Gysberts after acquiring Josh Caddy. Hamish McIntosh appears to be their only other trade deal during the period.

The Cats are looking to free up a spot for Melbourne defender Jared Rivers but it remains uncertain whether they will pick him up.

Rivers is likely to head to the pre-season draft should the Cats not take him.

HAWTHORN defender Tom Murphy is likely to head to the Gold Coast Suns as a free agent by the end of today.

UPDATE: 11/10/12 – PORT ADELAIDE has confirmed that it won’t make a play for Carlton’s Jordan Russell after it was initially interested in him.

The Carlton midfielder’s career is in limbo with the Blues set to delist him if he’s not traded.

MELBOURNE’S offer to Chris Dawes has given the Collingwood camp something to think about and has prolonged talks today. A decision on Dawes is now expected by Monday.

The Western Bulldogs and Carlton are others hopeful of snaring Dawes.

MELBOURNE has joined the race for injury prone Bombers forward Scott Gumbleton, who has recently undergone a medical test at the Dockers and now the Demons.

Gumbleton would be a back-up plan if the Demons can’t convince Collingwood forward Chris Dawes to join them today. The Western Bulldogs were close to an announcement yesterday but there remains a sticking point on what the Pies are after. The Dogs have offered picks 27 and 41, the picks they received from Hawthorn for Brian Lake.

Carlton also remain in the race, where a decision is expected to be made by the weekend – if not today.

The Demons are confident of also landing North Melbourne tall Cameron Pedersen for a second round draft pick today.

HAWTHORN wants pick 17 in a trade if midfielder Clinton Young decides to join Collingwood. The Pies remain the front runner for Young, but it is believed Young may still stay at the Hawks if a deal can’t be reached. He is unlikely to be used as a free agent despite his status.

UPDATE: 10/10/12 - FREMANTLE has admitted it has began negotiations for injury-prone Essendon forward Scott Gumbleton.

The Dockers are hopeful of snaring the talented young forward.

COLLINGWOOD’S Chris Dawes is set to become a Western Bulldog with the Bulldogs set to swap picks 21 and 47 for the Pies forward.

A deal is to be done early tomorrow, if not tonight.

ESSENDON’S David Hille hasn’t had any offers over the trade period and is contemplating his playing future. A decision will be announced over the coming days.

HAWTHORN premiership midfielder Clinton Young is also set to join the Pies, with Collingwood set to offer the Hawks a second round draft pick for the on-baller.

The Hawks are yet to agree to the offer but are willing to shop him around.

NORTH MELBOURNE’S Lachie Hansen is being pursued by Fremantle, Gold Coast and Greater Western Sydney. The Kangaroos have offered him a new contract and say that the ball is in his court.

AS revealed by Football Nation yesterday, homesick Fremantle defender Dylan Roberton is set to be plucked by Collingwood, who has shown a great deal of interest to snare the young talent.

Roberton will help fill the void left by retired defender Chris Tarrant.

GEELONG will decide today whether it wants to part with its compensation pick for Gary Ablett from two years ago along with its first round selection for Gold Coast youngster Josh Caddy.

The Suns are also keen on Cats forwards Mitch Brown, who is also being chased by Fremantle, and Josh Walker.

UPDATE: 9/10/12 - ST KILDA, RICHMOND and ESSENDON are in the hunt for Port Adelaide midfielder Ben Jacobs.

ESSENDON and the WESTERN BULLDOGS remain the front runners for West Coast on baller Koby Stevens, after the Eagles decided against having him involved in a trade for Sharod Wellingham today.

FREMANTLE’S Dylan Roberton is set to get picked up by Collingwood either as a trade or in the draft period.

HAWTHORN midfielder Clinton Young toured the Westpac Centre facilities last night with COLLINGWOOD seeking a trade for the experienced on-baller.

Young is also being sounded out by the Brisbane Lions. He is not the only Hawk that is set to leave the nest from the fallout of acquiring Brian Lake yesterday.

Stephen Gilham may head to the GOLD COAST after the Suns made some enquiries about his services last night. Tom Murphy may also leave to seek further opportunities elsewhere.

MELBOURNE’S Jordan Gysberts has been linked to Geelong for a third round draft pick.

ESSENDON and the WESTERN BULLDOGS are pursuing West Coast on-baller Koby Stevens.

CARLTON has shown interest in not only Scott Gumbleton, but also Collingwood’s Chris Dawes and Port Adelaide on-baller Matt Thomas.

NORTH MELBOURNE forward Lachie Hansen is keen to explore his options elsewhere but has had little interest.

UPDATE: 8/10/12 - CARLTON has been quiet in the early stanza of the trade period but has shown some interest in Essendon’s Scott Gumbleton.

Jordan Russell’s manager Marty Pask confirmed that Russell was likely to be traded to PORT ADELAIDE this week.

NORTH MELBOURNE is set to snare JOSH CADDY with Geelong now appearing out the race for his services. The Kangaroos are in the box seat for Gold Coast’s Caddy after a meeting with his manager today.

HAMISH MCINTOSH is almost certain to head to Geelong for a second round pick.

ST KILDA is now looking at a deal that would send homesick midfielder JAMIE CRIPPS to West Coast in exchange for MITCH BROWN. West Coast’s priority, however, is on Wellingham over the initial trade period.

ST KILDA has apparently offered West Coast defender MITCH BROWN a three year deal. No details yet on what the Saints are offering the Eagles although one source has suggested that a three-team trade could be in the works that will get SHARROD WELLINGHAM to West Coast.

MELBOURNE could now snare Jesse Hogan by swapping its pick three in the draft for second pick in the mini draft. Hogan is a highly-rated forward from WA.

The WESTERN BULLDOGS and ADELAIDE have shown significant interest in Collingwood’s Chris Dawes and may well contend with MELBOURNE for his services.

The Dees, are in the box seat however, with pick 13 set to be swapped for him.

Melbourne is concentrating on landing Dawes first before settling on deals for St Kilda’s Farren Ray and North Melbourne’s Cameron Pedersen. They are also interested in North’s Ben Warren.

Stefan Martin and Cale Morton are being shopped around by the Demons to get the guns they want.

ESSENDON’S Angus Monfries is set to be obtained by PORT ADELAIDE in a trade rather than free agency. Monfries is set to sign a four year deal at the Power this week.

Monfries and Dawes are expected to be the first two trades of trade week, kicking off today.

A TRADE for Josh Caddy still appears to be some time off with Geelong finding it difficult to satisfy Gold Coast’s demands. North Melbourne appears well placed for Caddy if the Cats can’t find a significant offer. Caddy has history at North given that his grandfather John Reeves, played 110 games for the Roos.

UPDATE: 7/10/12 – MELBOURNE is likely to snare Collingwood’s Chris Dawes with pick 13 as early as Tuesday as negotiations between the two camps ramped up yesterday.

The Dees had also been in discussions to get Sharrod Wellingham and in a double deal with Dawes for pick four, but Wellingham wants to return to WA and join West Coast.

West Coast will offer its first round selection – pick 17 – for Wellingham.

Jack Viney will become a Melbourne player under the father-son rule tomorrow after the father-son bidding meeting. The Suns are expected to push Melbourne to use pick three on the tough inside midfielder.

The Dees are expected to be big players this week as they also chase North Melbourne forwards Cameron Pedersen, who won the Werribee Tigers VFL best and fairest last week, and Ben Warren.

After missing out on Kurt Tippett, the BRISBANE LIONS attention turns to Melbourne free agent Brent Moloney, who appears destined to sign at the Lions this week. Although in what may be a stumbling block for Moloney, the Lions are also interested in Hawthorn’s fringe midfielder Clinton Young.

GEELONG lead both North Melbourne and St Kilda in the race for Gold Coast midfielder Josh Caddy with a deal expected to be made later in the week. The Cats attention initially has been on North ruckman Hamish McIntosh, after he underwent a medical test at the Cats after having a history with knee injuries.

ST KILDA’S Farren Ray looks set to depart the Saints with Melbourne and Fremantle showing some early interest.

ESSENDON’S Henry Slattery and Carlton’s Jordan Russell appear set to join Port Adelaide this week.

COLLINGWOOD midfielder Luke Rounds is being shopped around but at the moment, there are no takers. Rounds has struggled for senior opportunities and should he not be traded, is likely to be delisted.

Ken Hinkley will be announced PORT ADELAIDE’S new coach tomorrow, ending a 62-day search for a new boss at the helm.

UPDATE: 6/10/12 – MAVERICK Weller has been linked to HAWTHORN, but there are believed to be a number of clubs chasing the tough built midfielder.

The Gold Coast’s Weller is believed to have spoken to the Hawks according to manager Tim Hazell.

WEST COAST’S Koby Stevens is set to be involved in a deal that nets Sharrod Wellingham for the Eagles. Stevens, who wants to return to Victoria, may well find himself at the Pies as part of a package that includes a second round draft pick.

SYDNEY is believed to be the new front runner for Adelaide’s Kurt Tippett. Tippett is expected to announce today his chosen destination.

UPDATE: 5/10/12 – COLLINGWOOD’S Sharrod Wellingham has declared he wants to be an Eagle as WEST COAST begin talks today on how to satisfy the Pies with a trade.

Wellingham has been one of the Pies’ rising young stars in recent years and the Pies will demand at least a prime draft pick or a player of his quality.

MELBOURNE will attempt to off-load back-up ruckman Stefan Martin during the trade period and may be suited to ST KILDA who is search for a ruckman, although the Saints remain interested in GOLD COAST’S Tom Hickey.

PORT ADELAIDE is the latest club to show interest in Melbourne’s Jared Rivers, who has been linked to Geelong and Brisbane.

The BRISBANE LIONS are quietly confident of snaring free agent Brent Moloney from Melbourne, but all of their efforts remain in firstly getting Kurt Tippett across. The Lions have offered Tippett slightly more than Gold Coast to help get him across the line. Tippett is yet to decide his choice of destination with Sydney and Collingwood both entering the equation this week.

MELBOURNE is expected to make a formal offer to Collingwood for Chris Dawes that involves a second round draft pick.

UPDATE: 4/10/12 -  MELBOURNE has also shown interest in trading for North Melbourne’s mature age recruit Cameron Pedersen.

Pederson could be moved on by North despite being contracted for another year.

FREMANTLE ruckman Zac Clarke wants to be traded to a Victorian club and has told the Dockers he wishes to do so. Clarke is one of many ruckman up for grabs including North’s Hamish McIntosh, who has told the Roos he wants to be traded to Geelong.

RICHMOND and the WESTERN BULLDOGS are confident they can get their targeted young talent across the line as the Tigers do a three way deal to get Greater Western Sydney’s Dom Tyson.

Tyson is in the second year of a two year contract at the Giants but it hasn’t stopped the Tigers at snaring him. Tyson is open to a trade. The Bulldogs are looking to get 17-year-old Jack Martin in the mini-draft with the No.1 pick from GWS in exchange for the Dogs’ picks five and six in the draft.

The Herald Sun has reported that at last night’s Crichton Medal award ceremony ESSENDON coach James Hird suggested that Henry Slattery would not be back at Windy Hill next season.  The 26 year old Slattery is an unrestricted free agent and had struggled for playing time in 2012.

UPDATE: 3/10/12 - COLLINGWOOD’S Chris Dawes has said that he wants to be traded from the Pies with Melbourne showing strong interest today.

CARLTON has withdrawn interest for Adelaide’s Kurt Tippett, a day after coach Mick Malthouse cited that he would like to snare a trade for the Crows star.

CARLTON has shown some interest in recruiting injury-prone Essendon forward Scott Gumbleton, who has been offered just a one year deal with the Bombers.

Gumbleton has also attracted interest from both Fremantle and the Western Bulldogs.

GOLD Coast midfielder Josh Caddy said he would be happy to go to either St Kilda, North Melbourne or Geelong.

HIGHLY-fancied for the Port Adelaide coaching job, Leon Cameron appears bound for Greater Western Sydney in what looms as a succession plan under coach Kevin Sheedy.

Cameron could be another that pulls the pin after being interviewed by the Power, joining Rodney Eade and Brett Ratten.

Ken Hinkley now appears to be the new favourite for the Power job if Cameron takes on the Giants role.

HAWTHORN continues its pursuit for a top-line defender and they’ve been actively enquiring about a trade for Western Bulldogs star Brian Lake.

GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY ruckman Jonathan Giles is set to be traded to Collingwood as the Pies search for a back-up ruckman to replace Cameron Wood, who is set to be delisted.

MELBOURNE is expected to sign Geelong free agent Shannon Byrnes today. Byrnes, who took a tour of Melbourne’s facilities yesterday, is expected to sign a two year deal at the Demons after failing to play a senior game at the Cats this season.

The premiership midfielder has been told to seek a move elsewhere.

The Demons are also sounding out Collingwood’s Chris Dawes, who may look elsewhere after the arrival of Quinten Lynch at the Pies yesterday.

COLLINGWOOD will continue to attempt to do the unthinkable, and that is to snare Adelaide’s Kurt Tippett, who yesterday quit the Crows.

The Pies will offer both Sharrod Wellingham and Chris Dawes for a trade in what will be a three way deal to get Wellingham to West Coast.

After snaring Quinten Lynch from West Coast yesterday, both Wellingham and Dawes appear destined to leave during trade week simply because of a salary cap squeeze – particularly in order to be in the race for Tippett.

Tippett, however, is favoured to head to the Gold Coast or Brisbane Lions. Sydney and Carlton have also shown recent interest.

ST KILDA has chosen to join the race for Gold Coast midfielder Josh Caddy and West Coast defender Mitch Brown. North Melbourne has also shown recent interest in Caddy, who remains favoured to head to Geelong.

The WESTERN BULLDOGS are looking for a trade with Greater Western Sydney so that it can snare talented 17-year-old Jack Martin in this year’s min-draft.

UPDATE: 2/10/12 – New CARLTON coach Mick Malthouse has stepped up today to confirm that  the Blues have interest in trading for Adelaide forward Kurt Tippett making for a crowded field of clubs jockeying for the soon to be former Crow.

COLLINGWOOD’S Sharrod Wellingham is almost certain to become a West Coast Eagle at the start of trade week next week- with the Pies certain to off-load the talented midfielder due to salary cap pressure.

The Pies snared former West Coast forward Quinten Lynch today.

DALE Tapping is expected to take the coaching role offered to him by Collingwood to take the reins of its VFL team. Tapping was an assistant to Tarkyn Lockyer this season. It is uncertain whether Lockyer will remain as an assistant coach at the Pies.

GOLD COAST has met with Jack Viney, the son of former Melbourne star Todd, today but has not informed the youngster whether they will bid for him ahead of the Dees.

The Suns have a draft pick before Melbourne in this year’s draft and may well trump the Dees for the hard inside midfielder.

QUINTEN Lynch is set to sign at Collingwood in the next hour. A deal has been negotiated between both parties.

ST KILDA lead the way for Port Adelaide midfielder Ben Jacobs, who has cited a return home to Victoria.

The Saints are in a good position for Jacobs, having lost Brendon Goddard to the Bombers. The Saints are looking to become aggressive at the trade table over the next couple of weeks with other midfielders such as West Coast’s Koby Stevens also in their sights.

RICHMOND’S Jayden Post could be used as trade bait to lure Brisbane’s Patrick Karnezis to the Tigers.

The Tigers are on top of the trade race after snaring both Chris Knights and Troy Chaplin and now Karnezis is in their sights.

Karnezis wants to move back to Victoria.

MELBOURNE is shopping around Cale Morton, Lucas Cook and Jordan Gysberts.

Along with Geelong and Brisbane, COLLINGWOOD has also registered some interest in Demons defender Jared Rivers.

ST KILDA and HAWTHORN want West Coast defender Mitch Brown, but he is in contract for another year which may make it tough to convince Brown to return home. The Hawks have also enquired about Brian Lake at the Bulldogs and Jared Rivers at Melbourne in their search for a top-line defender.

GREATER Western Sydney could lure retired Geelong ruckman Mark Blake out of retirement.

WEST Coast forward Quinton Lynch will choose between lucrative offers from Melbourne and Collingwood today. Carlton is now out of the race. The Eagles, however, are in the box seat to secure Collingwood midfielder Sharrod Wellingham, who met with the club yesterday.

UPDATE:  1/10/12 – ADELAIDE forward Kurt Tippett is expected to tell the Crows that he is leaving tomorrow but there are certainly more destinations to choose from that what was believed to be in the beginning.

Although Tippett is currently holidaying on the Gold Coast, Sydney and Carlton have entered the mix for Tippett.

Gold Coast and the Brisbane Lions remain the favourites however in his quest to return to Queensland.

FREMANTLE is set to make a play for injury-prone Essendon forward Scott Gumbleton, who is one of several Bombers that have only been offered a one year deal.

The Dockers are set to make an official play tomorrow for Gumbleton to join its ranks.

This comes to hand after the Dockers made a pitch for Port Adelaide midfielder Danyle Pearce today.

Pearce is targeted by the Dockers because of his silky run and dash and creativity he could add to the mix.

HAWTHORN is believed to be targeting a key defender in the ilk of Western Bulldogs star Brian Lake.

The Hawks have also showed some interest in Carlton’s Bret Thornton, as they have in previous years.

The Hawks are also keen on adding Gold Coast midfielder Maverick Weller to the mix, with the Hawks prepared to throw a second round draft pick at the Suns for Weller.

NORTH Melbourne has been offered Geelong’s first round draft pick in exchange for Hamish McIntosh and a late draft pick. The Cats are keen to land a big ruckman to become its No.1 ruckman, which may see the end of careers of at least two current Geelong ruckmen, likely to be Dawson Simpson and Orren Stephenson.

BRENDON Goddard will become a Bomber today on a four year deal expected to be worth around $800,000 a season. The Saints had offered Goddard around $1.9 million over three years but had not offered a fourth.  It is unlikely the Saints will match his offer meaning Goddard is likely to land at Windy Hill today.

COLLINGWOOD’S Sharrod Wellingham’s trip to Perth to meet his manager last week meant a lot more with Wellingham sounded out by West Coast and Fremantle. The Eagles appear to be well-placed if Quinton Lynch joins Collingwood. Wellingham will have to sacrifice money to stay at the Pies after Travis Cloke signed last week. Port Adelaide has also shown interest in Wellingham.

THE Brisbane Lions appear set to land Demon Brent Moloney, who has registered as a free agent. Moloney is also being pursued by Essendon and Port Adelaide.

PORT Adelaide is set to be a major player in not only Wellingham and Moloney, but it is set to land Essendon’s Angus Monfries as early as today.

The Power also want delisted Blues midfielder Jordan Russell.

GREATER Western Sydney have shown interest in Power midfielder Jacob Surjan, while Geelong and Brisbane fight for in demand Demons defender Jared Rivers.

MELBOURNE has shown interest in Port Adelaide midfielder David Rodan who is set to be axed by the Power.

RICHMOND is not letting go of the idea of snaring talented youngster Dom Tyson from Greater Western Sydney. Tyson, who is back in Melbourne, is eyeing the prospect of remaining in his home town and the Tigers a keen to get a third party involved to ensure a trade can be done.

The Tigers are set to snare Adelaide’s Chris Knights today and may well get Port Adelaide defender Troy Chaplin.

UPDATE: 30/9/12: QUINTEN Lynch has quit West Coast but to go where is the question? Collingwood is highly-fancied but we hear that new coach Carlton coach Mick Malthouse has his mitts into him.

The Blues desperately need another key forward and Lynch would bolster an attack that would feature Jarrad Waite, Andrew Walker and Matthew Kreuzer.

Saint Jamie Cripps has quit the club and appears headed home to Western Australia. Fremantle is interested but West Coast may look to do a direct swap with midfielder Koby Stevens, who has quit the Eagles to return home to Victoria.

UPDATE 28/9/12: PORT ADELAIDE star David Rodan appears set for a return to Richmond, where he began his AFL career, during next week’s trade period.

Rodan, who was the star of last night’s player revue on The Footy Show, played just the 10 matches for the Power this season.

The Tigers are looking to bolster their attacking midfielders.

The Tigers are also interested in Koby Stevens, who quit West Coast yesterday to head home to Victoria.

Stevens said he doesn’t know where he will end up, but the Tigers join Geelong, Collingwood and Hawthorn in the race for him.

UPDATE: 27/9/12: CARLTON has shown some interest in snaring out-of-contact Kangaroos midfielder Levi Greenwood.

Greenwood, who was compared to a young Glenn Archer on arrival at Arden street, is looking at snaring more senior opportunities and may be a number of Kangaroos on the move over trade period.

Defender Luke Delaney has also received interest from the Blues and the Bombers, while Cameron Pedersen has been sought after by Collingwood in the case of Travis Cloke leaving but that now appears at long-odds.

Speaking of Collingwood, there were strong rumours last night indicating midfielder Sharrod Wellingham was in talks with West Coast about a potential move west. He has flown to Perth to meet his manager today.

GEELONG is now in the box seat to secure Gold Coast midfielder Josh Caddy. Essendon was looking to secure Caddy but all of its energy is being put into luring Saint Brendon Goddard on a four year deal. That deal has yet to be matched by the Saints.

UPDATE: 26/9/12: COLLINGWOOD is now more confident of retaining Travis Cloke after a successful meeting today.

It is likely he will sign a five year deal that will keep him at the club and prevent other suitors such as Carlton, Melbourne, Fremantle or Greater Western Sydney securing him.

GEELONG is making a play for North Melbourne ruckman Hamish McIntosh to bolster its ruck stocks.

McIntosh is no guarantee to remain at Arden Street given he has been on the fringe of selection since Todd Goldstein assumed the No.1 ruck mantle.

McIntoshs’ arrival at Geelong would mean the futures of  ruckman Orren Stephenson and Dawson Simpson, who starred in the VFL grand final, remain unclear.

COLLINGWOOD has joined the race for the services of Saint Brendon Goddard, who will be a free agent as of next week. Essendon appear to be the front runner for Goddard with the Saints now a long-shot to retain him.

If the Bombers do snare Goddard, the futures of fringe players Ricky Dyson, Brent Prismall, Sam Lonergan and Henry Slattery appear shaky.

All four are yet to be offered new deals. While Alwyn Davey, Scott Gumbleton and David Hille have been offered one year contracts but may try their luck at free agency.

Gumbleton, meanwhile, has been linked to Fremantle and the Western Bulldogs.

COLLINGWOOD is also in the chase for Adelaide’s Kurt Tippett to replace Travis Cloke, but Tippett is likely to head to either Brisbane or the Gold Coast.

The Pies have also shown interest in North’s Cameron Pedersen and Melbourne’s Stefan Martin as potential back-ups for Cloke’s departure.

Despite suggesting it is confident that Cloke will stay, the Pies moreso appeared to be bracing for his departure. Carlton remains the out-right favourite for Cloke if he leaves.

UPDATE: 25/9/12: CHRIS Knights has walked out on Adelaide and is now certain to end up at Richmond, who has been the big mover in early trade talks with Port’s Troy Chaplin all but signed at Tigerland along with team-mate Matt Thomas.

UPDATE 20/9/12: NORTH Melbourne is keen to off-load versatile forward Cameron Pedersen with both Collingwood and Melbourne showing early interest.

Pedersen is a mature-age recruit from the Box Hill Hawks in the VFL but has struggled to get regular senior game time at the Roos in his two seasons at Arden Street.

UPDATE 19/9/12:  WE’VE heard from a good source that there’s more substance to the rumour of Brendan Fevola being looked at by both Collingwood and Port Adelaide.

Port Adelaide is understood to have flagged interest in Fevola over the past three days and is likely to meet with Fevola before the upcoming draft.

Fevola has been training to keep his fitness at an elite level despite playing local footy this season.

It was initially rumoured that Fevola may well be of interest as a mature age rookie for the Pies and was understood to just be a supporters’ fantasy but this has apparently grown legs this week.

UPDATE 19/9/12: GEELONG has joined ESSENDON is in the market for St Kilda’s Brendon Goddard, who is set to test the free agency market from October 1.

The Saints remain hopeful that he will remain but the Cats are understood to be going hard for Goddard to keep their premiership window alive.

FREMANTLE, who has been another possible suitor because of former coach Ross Lyon, has all been ruled out for Goddard, as he has stated that he doesn’t want to go there.

The Bombers and Cats have also shown interest in Gold Coast midfielder Josh Caddy, who has cited that he wants to return home to Victoria after quitting ths Suns. Geelong harbours strong interest in Caddy after missing out Port star Travis Boak, who re-signed, and have a strong chance.

GOLD COAST defender Josh Toy is also set to return home to Victoria with Carlton, Richmond, Essendon and Geelong showing some early interest.

UPDATE 18/9/12: THE GWS Giants are making it known that they want to lure Richmond star Trent Cotchin to their club.  Cotchin is widely viewed as the future captain for the Tigers and negotiations for a new deal have already started at Punt Road.  While it is not impossible for Cotchin to join the Giants it would all hinge on the compensation to the player and the club.

UPDATE 17/9/12: GEELONG and North Melbourne lead the early chase for out-of-favour West Coast youngster Koby Stevens, who has struggled to get into the Eagles line-up this season despite promising form in the WAFL.

Stevens has exceptional leadership qualities and is one that may benefit from a return home to Victoria. He is uncontracted for next season.

UPDATE 17/9/12: THERE is strong interest from a couple of clubs in gun Sudanese rookie Majak Daw, from North Melbourne, after he starred in Sunday’s VFL preliminary final for Werribee.

Daw, who is understood to have shown discontent during the year about not getting a chance to make his AFL debut, is contracted until the end of next season but it hasn’t stopped clubs asking about him.

It is rumoured that Cameron Pedersen may join Ben McKinley in the delistings list from the Roos which is likely to be announced next week. Both played in Werribee’s preliminary final also. There is also talk that Ben Warren and Aaron Edwards may be shopped around during the trade period also.

UPDATE 16/9/12: MELBOURNE is keen to pursue a trade for Collingwood midfielder Sharrod Wellingham, who is still yet to ink a deal at the Pies.

While Travis Cloke has been the main man on the agenda for the Pies, Wellingham has slipped through the cracks and will also demand attention from other clubs but the Demons have privately voiced their interest early.

GEELONG premiership player Shannon Byrnes yesterday told Football Nation that he was focused playing in the VFL grand final on Saturday – but would begin talks with Melbourne soon after as he begins life as a free agent.

TRADE RUMOURS 15/9/12:

RICHMOND has all but inked a deal to get Port Adelaide key defender Troy Chaplin and Adelaide midfielder Chris Knights. Both players would inject some much needed experience into a young group in their bid to make finals next season.

There’s a lot happening at MELBOURNE where defender Jared Rivers is keen to move elsewhere with GEELONG being touted as a possible suitor after the retirement of Matthew Scarlett.

Demons midfielder Brent Moloney will enter as a free agent, while Jordan Gysberts and Lucas Cook are also believed to be wanting out.

Melbourne is also keen on luring one of Hawthorn’s fringe midfielders – Xavier Ellis or Clinton Young, who have also been linked to NORTH MELBOURNE.

At the forefront of talks during the trade period will be Travis Cloke who may well move to be acquainted with former coach Mick Malthouse at CARLTON. Malthouse has cited that he wants Cloke to join the Blues. Cloke has yet to put pen to paper for a four year deal at the Pies and is favourited to head to the Blues. Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs have ruled out bidding for Cloke, moreso because he is not interested in going there.

COLLINGWOOD is believed to be in talks with West Coast forward Quinten Lynch’s management about a trade, with the belief that it has already lost Cloke.

The Pies have also been linked to Western Bulldogs ruckman Will Minson, who has also attracted interest from the Gold Coast. Discussions have been become more advanced for Minson to remain at the Dogs.

PORT ADELAIDE has shown interest in Essendon forward Angus Monfries and Gold Coast defender Hayden Jolly, while ADELAIDE will go hard for Greater Western Sydney ruckman Jonathan Giles, who looms as a possible replacement for Kurt Tippett.

GWS has shown significant interest in picking up Carlton defender Bret Thornton over the trade period, while the WESTERN BULLDOGS have shown slight interest in recruiting injury-prone Essendon forward Scott Gumbleton, who is not happy with a one year deal from the Bombers.

GOLD COAST is set to swoop on Adelaide forward Kurt Tippett, who is set to finally join the Suns.
