IN the closing minutes of the 2012 trade period St Kilda and the West Coast Eagles finally found enough common ground to get a deal done.
With minutes remaining to do a deal the Eagles have sent draft selections 41 and 44 to the Saints in exchange for Jamie Cripps and draft selection number 46.
Cripps, 20, is a West Australian and had declared his desire to return home last month.
But it took almost to the last minute of the trade period for a deal to get done, no doubt in part because the Saints had held out hope that they could include the talented half-forward in a deal that would net them Eagles defender Mitch Brown.
In the end, the Eagles were true to their word that Brown would not be traded and the Saints settled on a deal that is essentially a second round pick for Cripps.
Cripps, 20,was drafted by St Kilda with the 24th pick of the 2010 Draft and has played just four games for the Saints.
